I thought I’d be in mourning today.
My beloved camera was sick, or so we thought. It was doing weird things, like forgetting to focus when on auto-focus or trying to auto-focus when I had it set to manual focus. Good times.
We were sure it needed repair. I was positively twitchy at the thought of not having my camera for several days (or a couple of weeks). Late last week, when I realized there truly was a problem, my husband suggested I wait until ‘photo season’ is over. There IS no end of ‘photo season’ for me.
So I worried, and twitched, and yesterday I snapped at Ed when I talked to him late in the afternoon and he hadn’t sent the camera yet.
Once again, Ed was right, and I was wrong. He’d been waiting to see if he’d hear from the folks at Olympus, which is why he hadn’t sent it yet. He finally talked to someone who suggested a firmware update. He did the update on the camera body and both lenses.
So far so good. During my after-work photo session (I took about 150 pictures — a slow night), the camera auto-focused when I wanted it to and didn’t auto-focus when I wanted to focus manually.
So life is back in focus, at least where my photography is concerned. Let’s hope it stays that way. :)

Pretty flower. And in focus.
Thank you, Lou. You are so kind. :)
At least you didn’t bet him dinner.

well glad to hear you can start taking pictures again.
The camera is still working… hooray! :) I’m glad, too.
Yay for functioning cameras!
I am anxiously waiting for the end of the month so that I can go buy a new camera. The one I have works OK, but several YEARS pass between the time I push the button (yes, it’s a Push Here Dummy camera) and the time the camera actually TAKES the picture already. By that time, my kids have moved on to 3 other activities from whatever cute thing they were doing.
Oh, you will SO LOVE your new camera. Even if you have to spend a little extra money, do it (assuming you can afford it). The “fancy” cameras that have the “advanced” settings can still be used in Push Here Dummy mode (love that term for it, by the way), which is great for photographing kids, dogs, cats, etc. But you probably know all this. Enjoy!
Glad to hear it was a fairly simple fix and it’s back to normal. Love the photo of that flower!

Thanks! I love taking photos, as you might have figured out by now. :)
So happy to hear your camera is back in working order- I hate it when my camera is out of commission.
Me, toooooo! And thanks! :)
I had a similar problem recently. I have a favourite lens and I had moved to a remote area to work for a couple of months and the lens gave up the ghost! (Its focussing facility seized up) I had to use my second best lens for those months and was twitchy for all those long weeks. Now that I am back in civilization, I have just had the broken one repaired. Ahhhhh. The relief. The Joy!
