At a festival Sunday, we wandered by a mother and daughter who had two almost four-week-old kittens with them. They’d brought the kittens to try to socialize them a bit. It worked. People couldn’t keep their hands off them, me included. Their mama was run over by a car when the babies were about a week old. If I recall correctly, there were five kittens. The neighbors “split up” the babies to ensure that each animal got good care.
The mother and daughter are planning on keeping the kittens. They weren’t always planning to do so. :) By the way, the kitten in the picture was in really bad shape when they got him. He’s doing quite well now and is a very laid-back kitty. :)
I applaud these neighbors. It seems as if the kittens are getting great care, and I bet it will continue. Anyone who bottle feeds kittens round the clock for weeks on end is “good people.”

I grew up on a farm, where every spring, we would have any number of kittens about. One time, a tom cat found where a mother cat had hid her newborns and went in and killed them all, or so the mother cat thought. She left the farm. When we woke up, we found the dead babies, but we also found a wee one still alive, but with no mother around to care for it.
This kitten was the ONLY farm cat at that time, who was allowed in the house. We raised her with a doll bottle of milk, and she was aptly named Puddles, because, of course, she needed to be cared for in the house long before she could use a litter box.
Eventually, we taught her how to eat and she was reintegrated into the family of barn cats outside. She grew up to be a very loving and attentive cat. I used to take great pleasure in filling a doll bottle with milk on occasion, even when she was an adult, and watch her stand on her back legs to drink it.
I can not handle the thought of an animal suffering, and I am so glad to hear that the neighbours plan on raising and keeping the babies. The babies may become really close to the family, and hopefully make great pets.
I can just see that adult cat standing on her hind legs drinking that bottle. Thanks for telling us the story.

Yeah, the story made my day. I was so excited to hear the story (and pet all that soft fur!) that I almost forgot to take any pictures!

Thank you, Nicole!
I LOVE kittens, and I am definitely a cat person. My husband is somewhat allergic though, and I really hate dealing with cat fur everywhere… but he is CUTE!

When Ed and I started dating, he said he was allergic to cats and “could never live in a house with cats.” Well, it turns out he’s no longer allergic to cats. But he says that if he were, he’d get allergy shots. He loves me.
Nope, I don’t think he could be any cuter!
What a sweet photo and story.
I didn’t think so! :)
Edited to add… I mean that I didn’t think the kitten could be any cuter, agreeing with my dear friend Bits & Pieces… not that I don’t think the story is sweet… (I hate it when I put the emphasis on the wrong thing. Ugh…)
Aw!
I’m addicted to the Itty Bitty Kitty Committee (http://ittybittykittycommittee.blogspot.com/) where the blogger fosters kittens too young to be adopted until they’re ready for new homes. It’s quite the daily dose of cuteness!
O.k., I checked out this blog today. I think I have yet another blog to add to my feed reader. :)
No way! That is the cutest face, evah! :)
