Ask and you shall receive…

Yesterday morning, I was thinking that I wanted to photograph mushrooms. (I’m all about the macro photography these days.)

And yesterday afternoon, on our walk in a forest preserve near our home, I got to photograph mushrooms.

It takes so little to make me happy. :)

    Awesome photos!

Thank you. :) I’m not loving the third one so much any more. It looks too dark. But I included it because the very top is what’s in focus, and that makes for an interesting shot overall. At least I thought that when I wrote the post. Hmm…

Such cool shots!! I have decided I need a better lens than the one I got (came with the camera)… now I just need to save up the money to do so! *sigh*

    Thank you so much, Marylin.

I am lucky in that the lenses that came with my camera are good ones. I want a macro lens, but in some ways, I like the “flexibility” that using my regular zoom lens gives me. Decisions, decisions… and then there’s always the whole “lack of money with which to buy lenses” thing. Ugh…

Oh, and SPEAKING of “flexibility,” you must get quite up close and personal with nature when taking such shots. I think dead leaves and dirt make a fine addition to any outfit. Don’t you?

So … do you feel like Alice in Wonderland, or what?

I pretty much did. It’s amazing how tall those tiny mushrooms can look when you’re looking at them from below.

I did learn that the right fallen log makes for a nice pillow in a pinch. :)

Beautiful! Isn’t it wonderful when life just works out?!

    Have a great day!

Thank you. I was happy things turned out the way they did.

You have a great day, too.

I’m loving macro photography these days too. I’m totally impressed with your mushroom shots. :)

Thank you, Kelley. They were fun to take. :)

Once I get going with my camera, I might have to get a macro lens too. Your shots of the mushrooms are beautiful! It is always so much fun checking in on your blog and seeing the beauty you capture.

Judy, you are so nice to say that. It made me smile. :)

By the way, I don’t own a macro lens. I took all those photos (and any other macro shots) with my regular zoom lens on manual focus.

I do WANT a macro lens, though. :)

I love macro shots! I wish my camera took better ones.

I LOVE that first mushroom shot :)

Sandy, thank you! It’s odd. I took many fewer shots of the first (red) mushroom than the others. But the red one is my favorite. And I knew when I took that particular shot that it was a keeper. :)

That first one is unusual. I don’t think I’ve seen one like it…

June, I don’t know much about mushrooms, but I’m used to the garden-variety brown ones myself. I like the red. :)

H - my husband - is mad keen on botanical photography. He heartily approves of your mushrooms.

    And so do I.

Thank you, May and H. You’re kind to say so.

I <3 my new bloggy friend May. :)

I love mushrooms! I used to go on morel mushroom hunting expeditions in Michigan and I miss it. Mmmmmmmm . . . morel mushrooms. Now I’m hungry. :)

I’d like to hunt for morel mushrooms one day. I hadn’t heard about them until I read Barbara Kingsolver’s book “Animal Vegetable Miracle.”
