The air conditioning is broken in our building. It likely will be for most of the day. Today’s high is supposed to be in the high 80s.
When I got in this morning and got my trusty thermometer “settled,” it was 79.3 degrees F in my office. This was 7:05 a.m. Now, at 9:53 a.m., it’s 82.8 degrees F. And the humidity is on the high side, but I don’t know what it is.
I’m drinking lots of water (three 20 ounce cups so far), trying to minimize moving around, etc. I think we all are.
But it’s starting to get really uncomfortable.
And my brain is starting to turn to melt. For instance, in the sentence about “settling” my thermometer above? Originally, I put that comma outside the quotation mark. I know I’m starting to “slip” when that happens.
I know lots of people don’t have air conditioning and that almost 83 degrees isn’t THAT hot. It doesn’t make it any less miserable, for the people who deal with this on a daily basis, or for us who will almost assuredly have air conditioning later today or by tomorrow morning when we come in.
We’ll more than survive, but it’s not fun.
Think cool thoughts, please and thank you.
I’ll keep you updated, unless my brain melts completely away. :)

Last year our air broke! It was awful. Habitat didn’t put in a large enough unit and doesn’t help. Second some ants damaged some power thing and now we have to put chemicals around our unit. Thing cool. Thoughts are with you.
Ugh. Habitat is a great organization for which I’m sure you’re grateful, but it’s unfortunate they won’t help you fix the problem. :(
Ours died too. Not looking forward to trying to get a kid to nap in an 85 degree room later this afternoon. Ugh
I hope you’ve been able to get your AC fixed by now. Did you have any luck with the nap?
Goodness. This is the third run through this comment. My mind keeps going where the boundaries are. AARRGGHHH.
You poor thing. Thank you for showing SOME restraint. :)
Our air conditioner was broken for a week one August, and I swear it was the hottest week ever. I prescribe lots of popsicles and trips to anywhere that is air conditioned so that you don’t melt. Ugh.
I can’t imagine not having AC. But I live in Georgia, so it’s simply a “must”… and fortunate that we’re able to have this “must.”
by the way……. I’m melting I’m melting what a world what a world I’m melting
:)
Frequent cold showers might help. Or put a bucket of ice in front of a fan and enjoy.
Good suggestions for if the AC ever breaks at home. Thanks!
Absolutely no fun. You know it’s getting bad when your commas end up outside of your quotation marks! (We’re two birds of the same feather!)
Yes, indeed… flocking together. :)
