Solar powered personal air conditioner

Ed’s been cleaning out the garage (not that it needs it or anything).

Yesterday afternoon he came in just laughing and laughing and laughing. He’d found a baseball cap equipped with a solar panel on top of the hat that runs a fan that’s positioned just under the bill of the cap.

I am not making this up.

Solar powered cap with fan

As you can see, it does actually work. It’s not necessarily the prettiest hat you’ll ever wear, but being “green” isn’t always easy. Ed’s being such a cutie helps though. :)

Marylin, I’m glad you enjoyed it. :) I hope you’re feeling better.

That is really silly. But useful!

Yes… it really is. I wonder if I’d have the guts to wear it out and about. (Ed has two of them.)

That is cool! I want one. :)

I’m not surprised. All the cool kids are wearing them. ;)

Rite Aid is apparently selling a battery operated one.

BTW, is it time to call the “Clean House” crew?

That is so NOT “green” — the whole battery thing. But are solar panels biodegradable? Hmmm…

If I saw him out walking around I would have to take a photo. How unique!

Me, too… I’m glad I’m not the only one. :)

Sweeeeeet! Where can I get one? LOL
This is what being green is all about.

Being “green” is all about wearing silly hats? No? That’s not what you meant? Ed thinks he got them at a Ham Fest (whatever that is) a few years ago. I wonder if they’re making a comeback?

Edited to add… Ed says it’s a Hamfest, not a Ham Fest. He is SUCH a geek!

My luck, I’d put my finger up under the bill to push my glasses back up on my nose, and stick my finger in the fan.

I put my finger in the fan when taking the photos for this post — once or twice… three times tops. Despite that, I still have all my fingers. Ahhh…

I love it!!! I wonder how many of those exist in the world? :)

I’m glad you enjoyed it. :) It’s been a fun post to watch people’s reactions to.

    that is so funny!

I thought so, too, Jenny. Thanks!

Can I have it? LOL I would use it! It’s HOT.

    Pamela, I’m hearing you. :)

Now THAT’S funny! Actually, what is even funnier is that is was in your garage and you didn’t know it. My garage is a MESS but I think I have a general idea of what’s in there … of course, I’m saying that NOW, and NOT when I’m actually rooting through the garage coming up with crazy things I never knew I had! ~LOL~

    (HI! from NaComLeavMo)

Oh, some of the stuff he’s found… it’s been an adventure. If you clean out your garage sometime, let me know what you turn up. :)

That would be perfect for an amusement park or someplace else where you are never going to see the other people around you EVER again…

You make a REALLY good point there! ;)

Ha ha now that is funny!

Not sure how it’s ‘green’ though - it’s obviously going to use up a fair bit of oil and energy to make the hat, solar panel, fan and motor, but it’s not replacing a less efficient device. In fact because it doesn’t reduce energy consumption, in fact it increase it, this CONTRIBUTES to global warming.

Which deserves a round of applause. Living in Scotland, I can’t wait for climate change. According to what we’ve been told for 20 years, the planet should be pretty much uninhabitable by now from the intense heat. Sometimes I even breathe excessively to produce more CO2.

Every menopausal woman with hot flashes ought to have one of these! It’s got my vote, lol.
