Weekly Winners: June 15-June 21
This was a fun photo week. I used the self-timer on my camera for the first time. (I’ve had the camera almost a year.) I also got to photograph buildings, something I’ve not done much.
By the way, the blue skies in the photos from our trip to Athens? That’s the way God made the sky that day. I didn’t do any color correction whatsoever… to any of the photos. It was an absolutely beautiful “sky day.” The only cloud to be seen all day wasn’t really a cloud, but a contrail.
And now on with it. :)
Because I want to be like Secret Agent Mama in every way, I took a series of photos of myself looking in my mailbox. I’m still planning on blogging about this one. And I’ll probably try this again when I have more time. (I took this series in about ten minutes’ time one night this week as the light was fading.)
Photos from our trip to Athens, Georgia, to see my dad give remarks upon his retirement from full-time ministry in the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church. Today is his last Sunday. (Pictures to come on the blog this week and/or next week for Weekly Winners.)
Mom and Dad before the session.
Dad making his remarks. (Each retiring pastor had a few minutes to speak. Many spouses stood on the platform as well… being a pastor’s wife is a calling, I think. Being a preacher’s kid is something you’re born into.)
Athens, Georgia, city hall.
Leaves and shadow outside the convention center. (I took the photo because of the cool shadow.)
Spirit of Athens (sculpture just outside city hall).
Photos taken at the State Botanical Gardens of Georgia.
In the conservatory…
In the outdoor gardens/grounds of the Gardens…
A pool outside the Day Chapel at the Gardens.
The chapel.
Locally grown tomatoes we found at a farmer’s market on our way home from Athens.
Remember the wild raspberries in our yard? Turns out they’re blackberries.
That’s all. (Aren’t you glad?) For more of my week’s favorites, click here. My Flickr page is here. For more Weekly Winners, please go visit Lotus at Sarcastic Mom. And join us! It’s so fun!

Oh, wow. Those are such gorgeous shots! I love all of them, every single one! The mailbox thing that Mishi did is one of my favorites, too.
Thank you so much, Maggie.

*sighs with happiness* they were great Rebecca. I can’t pick a favourite one at all. I haven’t got a letterbox I might have to try that shot with a cardboard box lol…
cheers Kim :)
Letterbox, cardboard box… the principles are the same. :) Heh. Thank you for the compliment. :)

I think that the first “conservatory” picture is the most Secret Agent Mama-ish one! Totally cool!
Another favorite is the pool outside the Day Chapel at the Gardens, love the colors.
All of them are glorious! :)
Yeah, that “conservatory” photo does look like something Secret Agent Mama would do. You flatter me. :) I really like the pool outside the Day Chapel, too. Fun stuff.

You look a lot like your mom :) and I agree with you, being a pastor’s wife is definitely a calling!
Hi, Jen. I do look a lot like my mom… and the older I get the more I look like her… But I saw a photo of my mom when she was 18 or 19 or 20 in which my sister looks JUST LIKE HER. :)

Oh my favorites are the tomatoes and the blackberries are my favorite…mmmmmn (maybe I am just really hungry). Fun pictures.
I never did figure out what I did last week to stumble by accident, but I have added you to my blogroll so you are a likely candidate for another deserved mistake! hahaha
I’m glad you mentioned the blackberries. I need to pick them tomorrow. There should be a few more ripe now. I love that tomato photo, too. Awww… I made your blogroll? I think I’ve arrived. :)

Love the architecture and the great nature shots. Cool self-portrait too!! Mishi will be so proud!
Thank you, Karen! :) I was pleased with the architecture shots, too… I’m looking forward to doing more of it.

The pink flower shot is incredible, as well as the pool of water.
Thank you, Jenty! Are you talking about the fuzzy pink flower? I love that flower, too. I don’t have the faintest idea what that flower is called, but it’s FUN to photograph. The pool of water is definitely an image in which the cropped version worked better than the full one. :)

This is such a great set of shots. I love the ones with your dad - how neat! The tomatoes are great too!
Annie, thank you. The time with Dad last week and this past Sunday was wonderful.

You are too cute in the mailbox shot! Can’t wait to see more.
Congratulations (do you say that? I think so) to your father and his achievements in the church.
I Love all your photos…always!! <3 <3
Thank you, Secret Agent Mama.
I’m so amused in the mailbox shot because Ed was laughing. But I’m sure my smiling at the mailbox DID look odd. :)
Yes, “congratulations” is an appropriate thing to say re: my dad’s news. (These situations can be tough to figure.)

Looks like you had a gorgeous time!
Selftimers are a great tool indeed :D
And that sky IS awesome :)
Hi, Nicole! It’s so good to see you again!
I love blue skies and puffy clouds… especially together. :)

All great winners this week~each week I come here, you just get better & better w/your photography :) You should’ve shouted hello to me as you passed thru Athens~I live about 25 minutes from Athens~I probably could’ve heard you hollerin’ ;)
Connie, you’re so kind to say this. After reading your comment, I went back and looked at some of my Weekly Winners from the first few times I played. It’s fun to watch the progression…
We need to organize an Atlanta-area bloggy get-together. :)

Definitely a perfect sky day. My favorite photo is the leafy shadow on the brick wall.
Thank you, Kat. That leafy shadow on the brick wall photo was so fun. I’m glad I ran across it.

They were all wonderful and you’re right..that blue sky is gorgeous!
Thanks so much, Jeanette! :)

Love the leaf shadows and conservatory photos. Beautiful flowers!
Have you tried the blackberries? I just found a raspberry or blackberry bush in my front yard today, but they’re not ripe yet!
Hi! Thanks so much. :)
We had a few raspberries the day we first picked. Most of them were a little sour, but we think they’ll “sweeten up” as we go through the season. I don’t know this for sure, but it sounds good.

I love the copula shot you have with the clock.
“Cupola”: I didn’t remember that’s what it was called. But I love it, whatever it is. (I could shoot that kind of photo all day, especially with that sky.)
