Weekly Winners: June 22-28
I took a lot of photos this week, but when I looked at the ones I took last Sunday (one of my two big photo days) I was underwhelmed. (I do still need to blog about it, though, as it was my dad’s last Sunday as a full-time minister. He’s now officially retired. WHOO HOO!)
On Friday Ed and I went to the Atlanta Botanical Garden. As I mentioned yesterday, my aunt hired me to photograph orchids. (You can see more of my orchid photos in this post and in this one.) Ed and I liked it so much, we purchased an annual pass. :) Here goes…
That is one fuzzy bee. (I had no idea bees were so fuzzy. Did you?)
I took this photo through the glass of an aquarium. I’m pleased with how it turned out.
At the orchid exhibit.
Venus fly traps.
A lovely purple flower and some of its… um… “bud”dies. (Ahem…)
A whole different perspective.
The bees were REALLY busy.
The bees hadn’t found this one yet. :)
I had such a good time, despite having a bit of a stomach bug. I can’t wait to go back. To see more of my favorites this week, click here. My Flickr page is here. For more Weekly Winners, visit the lovely Sarcastic Mom.

Wow these are gorgeous. That first one. Stunning. And this last one has such amazing color. I’m glad you had a good time!
Thank you, Steph. I’d not had the opportunity to photograph bees before, so I was THRILLED when they were everywhere. I got all up in their faces, too. Clearly I’m not afraid of them… or at least I’m not when I’m trying to photograph them. :)

Those are all so beautiful!
Thank you. :)

Oh my gosh, these are gorgeous! I can’t get over the colors and the detail. Wow. Awesome. This could be my favorite set of yours (well, maybe, because there have been some others I’ve loved, too). Truly, wow.
Maggie, I can always count on you to give me a boost. Thank you. :)

What a great capture on the first and second photos! And all of these are spectacular - wow!
Thanks so much. :)

You are incredible. Great shots all around!!
Thank you, VDog. :)
By Jenty on Jun 29, 2008
Wow, they’re all incredible! I love the one with the boy on the bench.
And the frog is amazing, no wonder you’re pleased.
Thank you, Jenty.
I love the photo of the boy, too. He’s a stranger-boy. I am a bit leery of posting photographs of stranger-children on my blog. But I feel better about doing that than I do about posting the photos of kids I know. Does that make any sense?

You’re welcome. :)

Geesh Rebecca, I posted a bee picture too this week which I thought was pretty good until I saw yours! I’m sure I can find it somewhere on your blog but you are going to have to shoot me an email and tell me what type of camera you use!
Awesome, awesome, awesome!
Thanks so much, Amy. I use an Olympus E-510. :)

These are so awesome. I love the Atlanta Botanical Garden - it always made me so happy to go.
I love the shots of the orchids, and the little boy…and the different perspective. Those (I think) are my favorite out of the bunch.
I’m glad you enjoyed them, Annie. :)

Your nature shots are stunning! Good good job!
Thanks to you I entered my first Exposaroonie contest!
I need to know how to get a copyright symbol on my pictures, I found 3 on another person’s website.
Thank you, Shannon. :)
I’m sorry someone’s been… um… borrowing… your photos. That is a real bummer. :(
As for the copyright symbol, with the number lock on, hold down Alt and put in the number 0169. That should do it, if you have Windows. If not, I’m not sure what the procedure is. Good luck!

Those are some fabulous nature shots! I suddenly have the urge to check out the nearby desert botanical garden…if only it weren’t so hot!
Thank you, Amber. It WAS hot on Friday. But well worth it…

Me to! We to the butterfly pavilion a few weeks ago and I haven’t posted mine yet - but this all reminded me of our fun that we had. Great pictures! Love the different prospective effect.
Thank you, Susan. Let me know when you post your butterfly photos, and I’ll come check them out.

Wow. Beautiful pictures!!! You really have a talent for this, those orchids couldn’t have looked better.
Thanks for dropping by!
Thanks so much, Gabriel! :) I was pleased with how the orchids turned out. I’m glad you like them, too.

I love them all! But that first bee photo is amazing!
Thank you. I had a case of beginner’s luck with the bees, I think. Friday was the first time I’d ever tried to photograph them… :)

Thank you, Vicky! :)

These are just amazing, intricate and beautiful.
I love the bee shot. I don’t think bees are that fuzzy in Australia.
The orchids! Oh! What can I say?
I loved the frog too.
Thank you, Tiff. I appreciate your kind words. :)

Beautiful pictures! Wow. And the bee picture is amazing. What a treat.
Thank you so much. I was pleased with how the bee photo turned out, too. Even the blind squirrel named Rebecca can find a nut sometimes, I guess.
By Beth on Jun 29, 2008
Wow. That first bee shot is just amazing!
Thank you, Beth! :)

Orchids are my favorite! Such gorgeous shots :) The frog and venus fly traps gave me goosebumps ;)
I’m glad you enjoyed them. Yay!
And the frog and Venus flytraps feel the same way about you. ;)

So many fun shots! Hey, I got a bee this week too. :) But mine fell in the pool so his fuzz is wet. :)
Thank you, Chaotic Lisa. Was the bee mad after falling in the pool?
By Maura on Jun 29, 2008
I really enjoyed the photos. I love taking flower photos, too.
I found you through AllMediocre and I look forward to coming back soon!
Thank you, Maura! :) I’m so glad you came by, and I look forward to seeing you again soon.

Absolutely spectacular, Reba!
I ADORE that first bee photo. I love how fuzzy they are!
And I want a pass to that botanical garden, too! Waaahhh!
Thanks so much, Lotus. My husband made the bee photo his computer wallpaper… after cropping the heck out of it to get the vertical photo horizontal. Heh.
How about this? If you ever make it down here and have a few hours and I can get there, I’ll TAKE you and your husband and/or Braden to the Atlanta Botanical Garden. We’ll have a couple of free passes for going… and even if we don’t when you get here… I say it’s the least I can do for hosting such a WONDERFUL blog carnival every week. Truly, I’ve improved because I’ve had Weekly Winners to “get ready for” each week. (I looked at the photos I put in my first Weekly Winners a few weeks ago. They were o.k., but I’ve learned a LOT since then. Yay for you!)

What a great group of photos!
These pictures make me want to go back to Hawaii and smell some exotic flowers!
Really great!
Thank you, Missy. I’ve never been to Hawaii… I want to GO!
