My kind of bloggy gathering…

As many of you no doubt know, BlogHer is going on rightthisminute.

There are WAY more people in the blogosphere NOT going to the conference than going. So some folks decided to have an alternative to BlogHer, which they’re calling “BlogHop ‘08.”

I don’t like REAL LIFE parties (one reason I decided not to go to BlogHer — too many people), but I love virtual ones. :)

I participated in the Ultimate Blog Party in March. I threw a little giveaway in April (and another one is coming the last week of this month). I’ve hosted three different blog carnivals and participated in a few myself… some big, some small.

So yes. I like reading blogs and “meeting” new people. Blog carnivals, no matter the context, are GREAT ways to do this.

    I do enjoy going to all these parties without leaving the comfort of my home. If there was just a way to zap the food through the screen…now that would be cool..

    I hear ya! Real life parties make me feel… claustrophobic. Not that I’m anti-social. Just not my thang!

    I agree, parties from home are far better! it’s fun to go around “meeting” new people. I’m too shy to be around so many people in real life

    I think we’re all at the right party here. From what I can tell so far; most of us are to shy or overwhelmed to venture out in public to meet bloggers in real life and much more comfortable meeting people in the comfort of our home. Nothing wrong with that. A lot cheaper too!

    I was fascinated by the comments this post generated. So many of us are pretty shy/overwhelmed by the thought of big parties. This was a lot of fun.

    Love these blog parties because they always introduce me to at least ONE blogger I’ve never read before but can’t wait to begin reading regularly…it’s a great way to “meet” new bloggers!

    I understand what you mean by too many people at events like BlogHer. When I worked in marketing for Libbey, I did my share of trade shows. Yes they were fun with all the dinners and shows and things like that in the evenings, but I don’t feel much of a need to go do that these days. At this point, I’m thrilled to have an afternoon to myself, just reading, writing, or, better yet, shopping!
