Because the bulb for my right-turn signal is burned out, I had to use the bicycle hand signal for right turns on the way home from work today.
The only problem is that I was driving my car in rush-hour traffic. In Atlanta.
I’m lucky I lived to tell the tale.

Eeeek! Glad your home safe!!
wonder if people actually remembered their bike signals or just thought you were being silly with your arm out the window…
I think they probably thought I was being silly. I fully expected to get rear-ended…
It took me nearly 30 minutes to find a parking spot at school the other day, so from now on I actually *will* be riding my bicycle.
I did not realize people still used hand signals, but, then again, I do live in California!

Well, people are supposed to use hand signals if their car’s signals are broken. I SO rarely see people use signals on bikes, much less in their cars.
Just remember, the one finger salute is NOT a legitimate hand signal.

Ouch that is living dangerously! Get thee to Murray’s Auto Supply before you lose that arm in a freak auto accident.

CG, my husband bought a new lamp that day. I didn’t have to drive again without its being fixed. I wasn’t happy about the whole “arm out the window thing” myself. :)
OMG!!! I am very familiar with Atlanta traffic. You are insane!

The more insane thing would have been not using hand signals at all… but I totally get what you’re saying. My husband bought a new lamp and replaced the burned out one when I got home from work. :)
