Atlanta Botanical Garden: Early Fall Edition

in Photography, Ramblings, Weekly Winners

I took the day off Friday, and Ed and I went to the Atlanta Botanical Garden where we have a membership. This is only our second visit.

I found this beauty before we entered the garden.

Same with this…

RA035060

…and this.

RA035079

Now we’re in the courtyard just inside the gardens.

RA035090_cr

In the garden proper now, we found this frog.

RA035133

This is a Chihuly, I think. He had an exhibit here a few years ago, and this may be a “leftover.”

RA035201

He loves me; he loves me not.

RA035251

COOL lily pads!

RA035274

A flower among the lily pads.

RA035495

These next three were taken in the orchid house…

RA035324

RA035398

RA035403

This was in the desert exhibit.

RA035442

This one IS a Chihuly.

RA035449

The sculptures in the next photos are from the Sculpture in Motion exhibit.

RA035488

RA035522

RA035536

Another autumn display shot on our way out.

RA035693_cr

We had a nice day. I was POOPED by the time we left, much to Ed’s dismay. He would have run around town for hours more if I’d given him a chance. We’re not recreationally compatible, sadly. Oh well… he loves me anyway. :)

I’m also using this for Sarcastic Mom’s Weekly Winners. Go take a look for more photos.

Oh my gosh, these are all just incredibly perfect! I couldn’t begin to pick a favorite because they are all my favorites. I love the crisp clarity of all of these. I feel like I could reach out and touch the textures. You just keep getting better and better at this picture takin’ thing. ;)

All wonderful. At least you and your husband like the same things. My husband and I would have enjoyed this, but our kids would say, blech, boring. Loved the frog especially, and I enjoyed the glistening sculpture.

I’m not picking a favorite. I can’t. They are all so awesome!

In the years I lived in Atlanta, I never actually went inside the Botanical Garden. Now I’m totally kicking myself for that.

WOW. Absolutely, absolutely fantastic photos.

12 Secret Agent Mama 10.05.08 at 12:45 pm

I imagine that it’s easy to go a little crazy there! I Know I would.

I’m counting down, btw! How about you?

Secret Agent Mama’s last blog post..Week in the Life: Day Six

I took 734 photos in 7 hours we were gone, most at the botanical garden. I’ve been experimenting more with aperture, so I’m taking more exposures of the same subject than I might be. This is not to say I’ve not taken 734 photos MANY times before, but… I feel like I’m learning all over again in some ways. :)

I am SO counting down. Ed is still sad that I’m going to be gone a couple of days (he wuvs me so much), and we’ve not yet worked out exactly when I’ll be driving up… but I know I will be there Friday, if that’s still o.k. with you. :)

WHOO HOO! :)

LOVE the frog picture! I’m not normally a huge fan of frogs (they creep me out), but I love them in pictures where they can’t jump at me.
Great shots!

I saw a Chihuly exhibit a few years ago where the pieces were in with the plants at a conservatory. Amazing stuff.

Gorgeous photos! A couple of times I’ve made plans to take my daughter to a local garden, but it’s always fallen through. Maybe next spring (she’ll be out of town until December).

They sure are all fantastic. That first flower is so unique, I have never seen anything like it. I have always been a Fall person and third one with the dark mums and the orange, is fantastic. Nice job.

I am hosting my first contest, if you would like to stop by and see.
