For the next ten or so weeks, Ed is only twenty years older than I am, rather than the “usual” twenty-one years.
That means today is my birthday. I am 34.
Happy birthday to me.
Despite my worries, it’s been a good day. A phone call from my parents, a call from a friend. An e-mail from my sister with a special message from my nephew. A couple of cards via e-mail. One snail mail birthday card. Well-wishes from coworkers and lunch yesterday with my friend Sarah. Well-wishes from friends via e-mail and Facebook — also a few Twitter “happy birthday”s. The ladies at Curves sang “Happy Birthday” while we were all working out.
We decided to stay home for dinner. Ed made my requests of popcorn shrimp, a salad, and a brownie with ice cream. The desert looks remarkably similar to last year’s birthday dessert, except this year’s ice cream was Breyer’s mint chocolate chip. :) All was yummy!
Then he presented me with my birthday present, which I honestly didn’t expect. He got me David Cook’s debut CD, which we’re listening to now. I’m rather enjoying it. I am not much of a rocker girl (shocking I know), but I LOVE me some David Cook. (SWOON!)
I’ll probably go up to bed soon and read for awhile. So, an overly exciting birthday by the world’s standards, especially for a St. Patrick’s Day baby like me? No.
But a really good one? You bet.
Actually, I think it was just about perfect.
