Tomorrow, I’m having gum surgery.
I have great teeth (not even one hand full of cavities), but two rounds of braces and major jaw surgery have left with with gum recession, particularly on my lower jaw.
So in order to KEEP those great teeth healthy, I’ll be having four gum grafts.
The thing that’s so ironic is that in middle school, someone in my church youth group called me Big Gums, because I had, well, big gums on my top jaw in the front.
I’m not worried about the procedure itself. Compared to the jaw surgery, this is NOTHING. (Not that I won’t be quite uncomfortable, but that surgery was so major that I couldn’t chew for four weeks.)
What I AM worried about is the possibility of throwing up. I’ve not thrown up since the last time I had anesthesia. In 1992. (And, yes, I’ve seen the Seinfeld episode about the vomit streak. I think it’s hysterical!) I HATE throwing up. With a freakishly big passion.
So pray for me and for the doctor and for my husband.
And pray that all food I consume tomorrow will stay where it belongs. Thank you.

I’ll be praying for you! I’m sure it will go smoothly. :)
I’ll say a prayer for you right now … be sure to post an update as soon as you can! :)
I, too, will pray for you. Although, I wonder how I’m supposed to phrase that.
I will pray that you
Do not spew.
I know, I know. Hurt me later.
