Yes, for the last four days, it’s been me in the bed with two cats and sometimes one dog. And books. And my computer. And, Saturday and Sunday, about 14 episodes of the first season of “How I Met Your Mother.” And the occasional nap.
It still HURTS to smile, but I tried a few smiling photos because the non-smiling photos were not fit for publishing on anything other than a MOST WANTED poster (and that was debatable).
You may note the bruise on my chin, a result of the surgery. Lovely no?
I know most folks who have surgery, especially something as relatively minor as gum surgery, don’t have the luxury of being waited on hand-and-foot for four (or however many) days. But if you must have surgery, I HIGHLY recommend it. I’m still feeling uncomfortable at times (and started taking a higher dose of ibuprofen again this morning after trying to cut back yesterday and last night). However, I can guarantee a big reason I’m feeling as well as I do is that I’ve been able to follow the doctor’s orders to not move around much.
So, I’ve still not left our bedroom. The farthest I’ve walked is the few steps between my side of the bed and the toilet and back again. Tonight, I will take a shower and wash my hair, so I’ll be up and about all of 10 minutes.
Tomorrow at work, I’ll be armed with my ibuprofen and my chocolate pudding and my yogurt and my pasta and my mandarin oranges and whatever other soft foods we can come up with. (Any suggestions for soft foods? Anyone?)
I’m glad the surgery is behind me. All in all, I’d say it went fairly well.
And YAY FOR ED, who has taken such good care of me.

Soft foods? cottage cheese, egg salad, smoothies, bananas, hummus…
Wow, almost sounds like a vacation for me…. except the surgery part, and the pain, and the bruising part. Okay, maybe “vacation” was the wrong word. Hope you’re on the upswing!
Two words: Wendy’s Frosty
Heals all dental surgeries!
Hey, Reba! I agree with TravelWeens — Wendy’s Frosties are my favorite when I need something soft and cold. But there’s also apple sauce, mashed potatoes, tomato soup with crumbled crackers, oatmeal… Hope you feel like yourself again soon! And props to Ed for being such a great nurse!
Get well soon! I’m jealous on the How I met your mother marathon
Be well!
Cheers,
Meg
