Dear Mr. Bus Driver…

Dear Mr. Bus Driver,

I know it’s your job to keep the kids on your bus safe. I’m glad you take your job seriously.

As for me, I happily stop for buses who are flashing their lights every. single. time. I rode the bus all the way through high school, including graduation day. And, once I got off the bus each day, I had to cross a busy street to get home.

However, I cannot stop and leave enough room for kids to cross the street in front of the bus when you turn on the warning lights at almost the exact same time you stop to let the kids out. This happened both yesterday and today.

And, yelling at me for not leaving room for the kids to cross the street, as you did today, won’t help in this circumstance. There literally wasn’t time, and the friend who was following me said this immediately when we got to our destination. (Believe me when I tell you she would have been honest with me if I’d been in the wrong.)

Today is just the second day of school. Perhaps you’re still learning the route and the ropes.

But remember, I want to keep our kids safe, too. Giving me ample warning will help me to do so.

We used to have a bus driver who came through our neighborhood doing AT LEAST 5-10 miles over the speed limit every time.
Apparently, common sense is not a requirement for school bus driving.

Dude I once got rear ended by a bus who didn’t stop fast enough- I was a teen and the driver got all pissy with me, but then the cops showed up and he got a ticket- karmic justice I tell you! You are very funny, I shall now spend the entire night exploring and neglecting my husband, so just so you know my impending divorce is your fault :)

Oh no. I really hope this bus driver realizes this error and makes changes quick. That is unfair and unsafe to the drivers and kids.
