Blog the Recession
I heard about Blog the Recession from Steph at Those Corwins. It’s being hosted at Motherhood Uncensored. You can read more about it here.
Basically, if you sign up, you pledge to “click through” to people’s blogs if you read in a feed reader. That way you boost the blogger’s ad revenue (”blog the recession”) if the blog accepts advertising, or boost the blogger’s ego (via increased page counts) if they don’t. :)
I like the idea of boosting people’s egos… and if they make a few extra pennies as a result of my visit, that’s a bonus.
By the way, I feel REALLY weird posting this, as I DO accept advertising (mainly for the fun of seeing what’s up with the folks in the BlogHer network)… but I think it’s a fun idea… so post I will… and Beth at I Should Be Folding Laundry perfectly summed up my feelings in a post at her place… so read it. And than picture me saying “What Beth said.” :)
I feel like I’ve lost a friend
Long-time Braves announcer Skip Caray died yesterday. I feel like I’ve lost a friend.
Fun Monday: favorite words
This week’s Fun Monday host is Mothers of Brothers. The topic is favorite words.
I ADORE words, but I’m unable to come up with many “favorites.” I’d like to think this means I’m more concerned about the message I’m portraying with my words, rather than just knowing and using big words. It’s just as likely I’m having a massive brain cramp. :)
Moving on…
All definitions are from Merriam-Webster.com.
- conundrum — “an intricate and difficult problem.”
- behoove – “to be necessary, proper, or advantageous for <it behooves us to go>”
- dearth — “an inadequate supply : lack <a dearth of evidence>”
- bereft (this is one my husband reminded me of) — “lacking something needed, wanted, or expected —used with of<the book is…completely bereft of an index”
I’m sure I’ll think of more favorites after this is published, but them’s the breaks. :)
So tell us all some of your favorite words.
Prayers needed…
For the last week and a half or so, I’ve been reading this blog. I found it while scanning comments on Nate’s blog.
Long story short, this baby’s heart is very bad, as in “they’re not exactly sure how he’s made it this far” bad. Mom is not even 25 weeks pregnant. In trying to improve the baby’s health via medications given to Mom, Mom’s heart and other organs have been through the wringer, too. Not that she’s not happy to do it, but it’s HARD… on so many levels… ups and downs with the baby’s health, her health, and her emotions.
She’s in the hospital for the time being, away from her husband and three other small children.
The baby is named Stellan. I don’t know Mom’s name, because her family goes by pseudonyms (or if she’s shared it, I missed it). Until this week, they didn’t know the gender of their baby (and weren’t planning to until the baby’s expected due date in November). Nor had they named him. Because of the circumstances, they wanted to learn more about their baby, name him, and share his name with the folks who were praying.
So if you’d like to pray for them (she is an amazing woman of faith), leave an encouraging word, or both, I know her family would appreciate it. I’ve had the opportunity to exchange an e-mail or two with her, and I’ve found her to be an absolute delight.
I’m also putting a button that Jennisa made in my sidebar, so if you want to know the latest, you can click on it. Thanks, all.

PhotoHunt: Cloud(s)
My feet are pointing toward the clouds. Being a grownup swinging at the park makes me feel like my head’s in the clouds. I also spent some time hanging out in the dirt photographing dogs and people, which is why my shins are so dirty. Photography gives me a “head in the clouds” feeling, too, at times.
“Head in the clouds” isn’t a bad place to hang out, occasionally, but I don’t want to live there. :)

Privacy in the Internet age
Yesterday, my friend Sarah sent me this story:
Google says “complete privacy” does not exist
The article discusses the case of a couple who is suing Google after some of the folks working on the Google Street View project went onto a private drive, clearly marked as “private property,” to photograph homes.
Sarah pointed out that if the judge rules for the plaintiff it could affect what people are allowed to photograph. And now I’m curious about some other stuff, both “surface” and “deep.”
Surface
Is your house on Google Street View? Mine isn’t. I’m rather happy about that.
Deep
What should be private in regards to the Internet? What safety/privacy “rules” have you set up for your blog (to the extent you want to share)? Have you ever asked someone to remove something from a Web page or blog? (Did they do it?)
What else is on your mind on the subject?
Do tell…
